Brutalist Architecture vs. Modern Design | Shop Task

“I love the 1980s concrete buildings in downtown Calgary. These old buildings are an amazing backdrop for a skate session. Brutalist architecture is like a geometric castle grey skull, raw concrete and a fortress like appearance. The large metal and glass buildings built in the last 10 years are similarly rich in skate spots with smooth coloured concrete with flowing ledges that bend and curve however, they inspire you in a different way. There is nothing like the raw concrete of a brutalist structure to a down and dirty for a street session.” - Shaun Unwin
